Sociology is a subject that I hold
close to heart. Other than my jobs working in customer service and
community moderation, sociology was one of my biggest influences when
deciding on Communications as my major. Socioloy of Sex Roles takes
that interest a step further by scratching my itch to know more about
the major splits and overlaps of sociological groups, specifically
those based on sex and gender. Prior to taking this course, the study
of groups within a society interested me, however my knowledge was
limited and my intrigue hadn't been fully discovered. This class
began a strange reconstruction of my view on society in regards to
what sex and gender are, and how they fit into our world as a whole.
This class not only brought me to take a stand on social issues,
which is uncommon for me, it also produced one of my most
comprehensive and detailed works on the topic of parenting in a
society of gender-equal work expectations and opportunities.
