Philosophy: Special Topics was
definitely one of my more interesting classes during my university
experience. This unusual course was not offered regularly and the
course subject would only happen once and was completely unique to
that semester. As a result, the next time this course is offered, the
subject will be completely different. My class was treated to the
topic of “the self,” which, by luck of the draw, happened to be
one of the most appropriate topics for my major. Spring boarding off
of my introductory philosophy class with elements from sociology and
prior communications classes, Philosophy: Special Topics dug deeply
into to subject of how we identify who we are, how we interpret that
and how it affects our experiences. This class inspired numerous
papers and projects in future classes and even had an effect on my
personal life by completely changing how I view the world and what I
expect from it.
